Most second-brain courses leave your brain in someone else's cloud.
The standard shape is familiar: you pay to learn a system, and the system turns out to be a subscription. Your notes, your reading, your half-formed thinking — the most private record of how your mind actually works — end up on a platform that can change its terms, its price, or its privacy policy on a Tuesday.
We're not naming anyone, because it isn't about a competitor. It's about a default. The default is convenient, and the bill for it arrives later, in a currency you didn't know you were spending.
This cohort has one hard rule that makes it different: whatever you build, you leave with it running on hardware you own. Not exported. Not synced. Running. If we all disappeared the week after, your second brain would carry on working.
What you actually do.
- Week one — capture. Get everything you already have into one place you control, and stop the leaks. We set up local storage, a capture habit that survives a bad week, and honest triage of what's worth keeping.
- Week two — memory. Turn a pile of files into something an AI can actually use: structure, retrieval, and durable memory that remembers your decisions rather than re-reading your documents. This is the week the thing starts to feel alive.
- Week three — use it. Wire it into your real work and your real life. Ask it hard questions about your own history. Fix what breaks. Leave with it running, backed up, and documented well enough that you can maintain it alone.
Hands-on throughout — you build on your own machine from the first session. Six seats because that's the number where everyone still gets looked at properly.
