It runs the books of the company that built it.
The clearest test of a system is whether the people who made it trust it with their own liability. The e-Financials MCP connector operates Estonian statutory accounting and VAT for Virohanalife OÜ — deterministically, locally, and never without a signature.
The problem
Statutory accounting is tedious, rule-bound, and unforgiving of mistakes — the perfect job to hand a machine, and the worst job to hand a stranger's cloud, because it is your money, your books, your liability.
The usual trade is between the two: convenience if you upload everything, control if you do it by hand. We didn't want to make that trade for our own company, so we built the third option and then used it.
A full compliance loop, supervised.
Reads the books
Pulls the live picture out of e-Financials — transactions, account balances, the trial balance — into a form an assistant can reason over and answer questions against.
Assembles the VAT return
Reconstructs the monthly VAT declaration (KMD) and its annex (INF) deterministically from the underlying transactions. Every line traces back to its source; no figure is ever invented.
Reconciles
Matches the books against bank reality, surfaces unreconciled items and mismatches, and corrects opening balances so the foundation is sound before anything is filed.
Prepares period-close
Runs the month- and quarter-close checklist, flags what's missing, and turns the filing into a reviewed, reproducible artifact instead of an evening with a spreadsheet.
Why it's built this way.
Deterministic, not generative
A language model is wonderful at understanding intent and terrible at arithmetic you can bet a tax filing on. So the model never touches a number — code computes every figure, and the same inputs always produce the same return.
Human-gated at the edges
Reading, drafting and reconciling are automated. The few irreversible acts — anything that files or moves a number into the official record — wait for a human decision. On purpose.
Local-first & sovereign
It runs against your own credentials, on infrastructure you control. The books never get shipped to our cloud, because there is no our-cloud in the loop.
The connection is signed
The link to the government system is cryptographically signed and authenticated, and nothing is submitted without explicit approval. You stay the only signatory.
We are the first customer.
Virohanalife OÜ's own statutory accounting and VAT run through this connector. That's the whole claim, and it's a deliberately small one — no invented adoption numbers, no anonymous testimonial, no percentage of time saved that nobody could audit.
What it does buy you is the thing that actually matters when you're deciding whether to trust a system with your filings: the people who wrote it took the same risk first, on their own books, with their own liability, under the same rule that the machine proposes and a human disposes.
It is also the doctrine behind everything else we build — deterministic where mistakes are expensive, local by default, supervised at the edges. This is simply that philosophy applied to the one domain where being wrong is expensive in a way you can't argue with.
